The Foundation Design System, a state-of-the-art Swift-based, mobile-first system supporting athenaOne Mobile, embodies mid-century design principles—less but better. With a minimalistic approach prioritizing content and task completion, it reduces cognitive load and focuses on essential tasks. Aligned with athenaOne Mobile’s mission to ease physician workflows, Foundation offers hundreds of meticulously crafted components and templates for a unified, consumer-grade experience.
As the design leader and product owner, I directed Foundation’s design, led a development team, and enhanced UX and performance through screen redesigns. This strategic direction increased the design team’s output and velocity, shifting focus from UI elements to solving user problems. Essentially, Foundation accelerated prototyping, ideation, and final design, elevating implementation quality and speed.
